To get a good result, anatomic reduction of articular fragment and early joint motion exercise should be included in a treatment of tibial condylar fracture.
For bicondylar fracture, rigid fixation by dual plate is ideal but wound problem is significant. We analyzed the clinical record and radiograph of 28 tibia condylar fracture patient, and the following results were obtained.
1) Bicondylar type was most common type.
2) Satisfactory result by Blokker criteria was obtained in 82.1%.
3) Satisfactory result was obtained in all cases which was treated by open reduction of intraarticular fragment and minimal fixation & early joint exercise under the traction.
4) Meniscal injury was noted mostly in Hohl type 3 & type. 5 .
5) Varus deformity due to reduction loss was noted if the bicondylar fracture was treated by inadequate fixation and early joint motion.
6) Partial knee ankylosis was noted if the post-operative motion exercise is delayed for 4 weeks.
